Whether you are new to Ruddington or a long term resident and are thinking of visiting us you will be made to feel most welcome. Coffee, tea and cake are always on offer before and after the service.
Our aim as a church is to love God, love people, no really, and one of the ways we do this is through our lifelong commitment to deepen our relationship with God and neighbour by seeking to be more like Jesus.
Discipleship
We do this within our Sunday services, both through teaching from the Bible, discussions, prayer and worship, and in our small groups. Small groups meet weekly in people's homes, exploring faith, the Bible and how to walk the way of Jesus in our daily modern lives Monday through Sunday.
They are spaces for support, nurturing, questioning, deciding, seeking, praising, learning, doubting and most of all prayer.
If you would like to explore what it means to be part of a small group, please speak to Andrew, our vicar, to see where you can find the right home for you.
Friendship group
Our fabulous Friendship Group is lovingly run by a wonderful team of devoted volunteers, who seek to practically love older people and those who care for them. We meet once a month, with endless tea, coffee, and of course cake, to chat, support and love each other through all the variety of life. As well as meeting together, we keep in contact through the month with a fortnightly phone call to catch up and check in, which continues to be a lifeline for those who may be living with long term illness or living on their own. And of course to pray for the needs of our older community and their families and supporters.
Caring for someone can be a lonely and tiring labour of love, and the team at the Friendship Group is always there to come alongside and to listen.
We have a varied program of fun and light hearted activities, from quiz's to armchair exercises to sing a longs and our much loved Christmas meal. We can provide free transport to those with mobility issues made available with funding from the Co-Op.
There is no charge, and you can just turn up and you will be welcomed with open arms, and lots of cake!!
MenFolk. is a recently restarted men’s group at St. Peter’s. Open to all men in the congregation plus their friends and held in the Hermitage on a Saturday morning three or four times a year. It is purely a social opportunity to meet up and have conversations in the process, whilst enjoying a full English cooked breakfast. Well worth the £5 cost.
In addition outings are also planned from time to time with the first being a day out on a boat departing from the Peter Le Marchant Trust in Loughborough. Full details can be found by clicking the link.MenFolk River Trip

Prayer
Prayer is the foundation of our relationship with God, how we draw close to Him, share our highs and lows, our fears and triumphs, and everything in between. In the paradox of a world of uncertainty, fear, violence, sorrow, joy, beauty and glory, our one and only constant is believing the unending love of God through his son Jesus Christ, by His spirit.
In words of St Claude la Colombiere;
"My God, I believe most firmly that you watch over all who hope in You....therefore I am resolved for the future to cast my cares upon you....as for me, my Rock and my Refuge, my confidence in you fills me with hope...I know my confidence cannot exceed your generosity, and that I shall never receive less than I have hoped or from you. "
Prayer underpins all we do and are at St Peter's, whether praying together as a church body here in Ruddington through our corporate prayers and intercessions, or in our small groups and friendships as we support and stand alongside each other through the whole of lives together.
If you would like someone to pray with you, in confidence, then please speak to our vicar Andrew at any service, or email our church office where someone will contact you to pray.
We also have a dedicated prayer team who come together to pray weekly for the flourishing of the life of the village and beyond.
Care for creation
As a church, we are committed to caring for creation as stewards of the world God created for flourishing for all.
We are currently working towards an Eco Church status, with the Bronze Award our first goal for this year, an Eco Champion on our PCC and a regular commitment at PCC meetings to address care for creation as regular practice. We are also committed to at least two creation care church services each year, our first taking place in March at our family focused Altogether Service, about Fairtrade.
We are also committed to using only Fairtrade products where possible.
